Provident Banc Berhad (formerly known as Provident Banc Berhad) is a licensed moneylender operating under the Moneylenders Act 1951, regulated by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (Kementerian Pembangunan Kerajaan Tempatan – KPKT). The company offers conventional personal loan solutions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
2What is Provident Personal Loan?
Provident Personal Loan is an unsecured personal loan facility offered by Provident Banc Berhad with fixed monthly repayments, calculated on a flat interest rate basis. The facility is intended for general personal use and does not require any collateral or guarantor.
3Who is eligible to apply for Provident Personal Loan?
To qualify for the Provident Personal Loan personal loan facility, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Malaysian citizens aged between 21 and 60 years old
  • Holds a permanent employment position with a minimum of 1 year of continuous service
  • Minimum net monthly income of RM1,500 (inclusive of fixed allowances)
  • Not declared bankrupt or subject to ongoing insolvency proceedings
  • Demonstrates capacity to repay based on income and existing financial obligations

5What is the minimum and maximum loan amount offered under Provident Personal Loan?
The loan amount available under Provident Personal Loan ranges from RM1,000 up to RM10,000.
6What is the available repayment tenure
Applicants may choose a repayment period from a minimum of 1 year up to a maximum of 5 years, subject to credit assessment.
7What is the interest rate charged for Provident Personal Loan?
The applicable interest rate is between 12% to 18% per annum. The final approved rate is subject to credit evaluation and the applicant’s overall risk profile.
8What documents are required to apply for Provident Personal Loan?
Applicants must provide the following documents for verification and processing:
  • Copy of National Registration Identity Card (NRIC)
  • Latest 3 months’ salary slips
  • Latest 3 months’ bank statements
  • Signed consent authorisation for CTOS, CCRIS, and CRIF checks
  • Latest EPF statement
  • Latest income tax receipt (Form BE/EA) – if requested
  • Utility bill (water, electricity, etc.) – if requested
9Is any upfront payment or security deposit required?
No. No upfront payment or security deposit is required to apply for Provident Personal Loan.
10 Is a guarantor or collateral required?
No. Provident Personal Loan is an unsecured facility and does not require any guarantor or collateral.
11How long is the facility approval process?
The facility approval is within 1 to 5 business days. However, it is subject to full documentation and information received by Provident. Terms and Conditions apply.
12 How will I know if my application is approved?
Provident will advise you once your application has been approved via email/SMS.
13How will I know if my application is unsuccessful?
Provident will advise you if your application is unsuccessful via email/SMS.
14Do I have to provide other personal information, e.g. credit reports?
No. However, your consent to provide us access to your credit report is required in order to process your loan application.
15Can I apply if I am currently enrolled under the AKPK debt management programme?
Yes. Applicants who are under the AKPK Debt Management Programme are welcome to apply. Approval is subject to internal credit guidelines and assessment of repayment capacity.
16 I have arrears in my CCRIS record. Can I still apply?
Applicants with minor arrears in their CCRIS report may still be considered, provided the following conditions are met:
  • Arrears do not exceed 2 months
  • The account is not classified under Special Attention Account (SAA)
Approval remains subject to Provident Banc Berhad’s internal credit assessment and the terms and conditions set by the company.
17How do I pay for my Provident Personal Loan loan?
Repayment of the loan will be automatically deducted via Direct Debit from the applicant’s salary bank account on the salary crediting date. Applicants are required to:
  • Maintain an active bank account (used for salary crediting)
  • Register for online banking with their respective bank
  • Provide authorisation and complete the Direct Debit enrolment form
18Are alternative repayment methods accepted?
If necessary, repayments can also be made through the following channels:
  • Cash Deposit Machine (CDM)
  • Online Banking (Interbank transfer)
  • Cheque payment
However, Direct Debit is the preferred and recommended method for repayment consistency and convenience.
19When is my monthly instalment payment due?
The due date for monthly instalment payments will be clearly stated in your Schedule of Payment. This schedule outlines the instalment amounts and the corresponding due dates throughout the loan tenure. A copy of the Schedule of Payment will be emailed to the borrower upon disbursement of the loan facility. Borrowers are advised to keep the schedule for reference and ensure timely payments to avoid late charges.
20Can I make an early settlement of the loan?
Yes. Early settlement is allowed. Any applicable early settlement fees or rebate (rebate if any) will be clearly stated in the Letter of Offer and communicated to the borrower prior to disbursement.
21What fees and charges are applicable under Provident Personal Loan?
Applicants will be required to bear the following charges:
  • Stamp Duty – Charged in accordance with the Stamp Act 1949 (Revised 1989)
  • Processing Fee – 1% of the approved loan amount
  • Other Charges – Any other reasonable and necessary fees imposed by Provident Banc Berhad for services or facilities rendered in connection with the loan facility
22What if I decide to cancel the loan after approval?
In the event of cancellation after approval, the applicant is required to pay all costs incurred by Provident Banc Berhad, including expenses for the preparation and registration of the moneylending agreement and any related administrative or legal charges incurred prior to disbursement.
23What documents must be signed upon loan approval?
Upon approval, Provident Banc Berhad will issue a Letter of Offer setting out the loan terms. Applicants are required to:
  • Sign and return the Letter of Offer as an acceptance of the terms
  • Attend an appointment at the office to execute the Moneylending Agreement
The loan will be formalized under the Moneylending Agreement, in accordance with the Moneylenders Act 1951 and Schedule J (for individual borrowers) of the Moneylenders (Control and Licensing) Regulations 2003.
24When and how will I receive my funds?
Once the Moneylending Agreement has been signed and duly stamped, and subject to:
  • Complete documentation
  • Successful employer verification
  • Final confirmation by the borrower
The approved loan amount will be disbursed within 5 business days to the designated bank account provided by the borrower.
25What are the major risks if I default on my payment?
Failure to meet scheduled repayments may result in late payment charges, damage to your credit standing, and the commencement of legal recovery proceedings. Borrowers facing financial difficulties are encouraged to contact Provident Banc Berhad in advance to discuss alternative repayment arrangements or possible restructuring of the facility.
26What is the late payment charge?
In accordance with the Moneylenders Act 1951, a late payment interest of up to 8% per annum may be imposed on repayment amounts in arrears, calculated on a daily basis until full settlement of the outstanding amount.
27What happens if I default on the loan?
In the event of default, the following actions may be taken:
  1. Late Payment Charges
    Provident Banc Berhad will charge 8% per annum on the overdue amount, calculated daily until payment is made in full.
  2. Legal Action
    Legal proceedings may be initiated to recover the outstanding balance. Borrowers will be liable for all legal costs and related expenses, including solicitor’s fees, incurred during the enforcement process.
  3. Impact on Credit Rating
    Defaulting on the loan may negatively affect the borrower’s credit score, potentially making future credit facilities more difficult or expensive to obtain.
  4. Appointment of Debt Collection Agency
    Provident Banc Berhad may appoint a licensed Debt Collection Agency to recover the outstanding sum. All costs and fees incurred during the debt collection process—including agency charges or legal fees—shall be borne by the borrower.
28What do I need to do if there are changes to my contact details?
